Track your INWX domains.
nmspc reads your INWX domains through INWX's API and reminds you before anything expires. It never changes them.

nmspc reads your INWX domains through INWX's DomRobot API: when each one expires, whether it renews or expires at the end of its term, its transfer lock and nameservers, and the DNS records of domains on INWX's nameservers. INWX's API signs in with a user name and password, so nmspc asks for a sub-account made for it. nmspc lists what it finds and you choose which domains to track; nothing is added by itself. On Free it syncs when you press Sync now, on Pro every day.

Connect INWX

Steps

  1. INWX has no API keys: its API signs in with a user name and the account password, and that sign-in can do everything the user may do in INWX. So don't use your main account: in INWX, create a sub-account (a second user) for nmspc with its own password and give it only the Domain role, plus DNS if you want nmspc to read records.
  2. If that user has Mobile-TAN (two-step sign-in) on, INWX's API also needs a code from it. Paste the secret shown under the QR code when Mobile-TAN was set up (not a 6-digit code) and nmspc makes the codes itself. If you don't have it, switch Mobile-TAN off and on again for that user and copy it.
  3. Paste the user name and password below. nmspc only sends read commands (domain.list, nameserver.list, nameserver.info), stores everything encrypted and keeps the session open for at most five idle minutes.

What nmspc reads

  • The domains in your INWX account.
  • Each domain's expiry and registration dates, renewal mode, transfer lock and nameservers.
  • Zones on INWX's nameservers for domains registered elsewhere.
  • DNS records of domains that use INWX's nameservers.

What nmspc never does

  • Renew, transfer, register or delete a domain.
  • Change DNS records, nameservers, contacts or auto-renew.
  • Buy anything or touch your payment details.

Can the password change your account?

nmspc can't check what an INWX password is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your INWX account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

Before nmspc stores it, the workspace owner ticks “I allow nmspc to store a password that can change my INWX account”.

If it doesn't connect

  • This INWX user has Mobile-TAN (two-step sign-in) on, so INWX's API needs a code. Paste the Mobile-TAN secret shown under the QR code when it was set up (not a 6-digit code), or use a sub-account for nmspc.
  • INWX didn't accept the sign-in. Check the user name and password, and, if Mobile-TAN is on for that user, that you pasted the secret shown under its QR code, not a 6-digit code.
  • INWX signed in but refused to list domains. If you use a sub-account, give it the Domain role in INWX and connect again.
  • INWX refused another session for this user right now. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • nmspc reminds you before the expiry date. INWX renews on its own renewal date, which can come before the expiry date, and without enough credit then the domain goes back to the registry. Keep credit in INWX ahead of that date, or check the renewal date in INWX.

Moving a domain away from INWX

  1. In INWX's customer area, open Domain transfer and the Prepare for Outgoing Transfer tab, enter the domain, tick the transfer conditions and press Submit. INWX removes the transfer lock and shows the AUTH Code.
  2. Request the transfer at the new provider with that code. To only see the code without unlocking, open the domain from the Domain list.
  3. For generic endings you can confirm or reject the outgoing transfer under Domain transfer › Outgoing Transfer.
  4. A newly registered domain can only move after 60 days; the registry sets that lock.

How do I connect INWX to nmspc?

INWX has no API keys: its API signs in with a user name and password. Create a sub-account (a second user) for nmspc in INWX with its own password and only the Domain role, plus DNS if you want nmspc to read records. Then paste that user name and password in Settings › Integrations › INWX.

Don't use your main account: whatever the user may do in INWX, it can do through the API.

Does nmspc store a password that can change my INWX account?

nmspc can't check what an INWX password is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your INWX account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

INWX has no sign-in limited to reading that nmspc could check, so the owner of the nmspc workspace ticks a box to allow storing it. nmspc stores the user name, password and any Mobile-TAN secret encrypted and only sends INWX's read commands (domain.list, nameserver.list, nameserver.info). Limit what it could do by giving the sub-account only the roles above.

The INWX user has Mobile-TAN on. What do I paste?

INWX only lets a user with Mobile-TAN into the API with a current code. Paste the secret shown under the QR code when Mobile-TAN was set up, not a 6-digit code; nmspc makes the codes from it. If you no longer have it, switch Mobile-TAN off and on again for that user and copy the secret.

Does INWX renew my domains automatically?

Usually, yes: on the domain's renewal date INWX renews it for a year if your account has enough credit. Without enough credit the domain is not extended and goes back to the registry, which can cost extra there.

The renewal date can come before the expiry date nmspc shows, and nmspc reminds by the expiry date. Keep credit on the account ahead of the renewal date, or check that date for each domain in INWX. You can also set a domain to expire or be deleted at the end of its term instead.

Does INWX send renewal reminders?

For .com and other generic endings, ICANN requires INWX, like every accredited registrar, to email at least two reminders before a domain expires (about a month and about a week before) and one more within five days after, if it is neither renewed nor deleted.

INWX emails a renewal report 14 and 7 days before a domain's renewal date, or 30, 5, 2 and 1 days before when your credit is short.

nmspc adds its own reminders 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before expiry.

Why doesn't nmspc show DNS records for some of my INWX domains?

nmspc reads records only for domains on INWX's nameservers (ns.inwx.com, ns2.inwx.com, ns3.inwx.eu), and only when the sub-account has the DNS role. Domains pointed elsewhere still get expiry and renewal mode from INWX.

Does nmspc renew my INWX domains?

No. nmspc never renews, transfers or changes a domain. It reads your INWX domains and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before each one expires, by push notification on any plan and by email on Pro. Renewing stays with INWX.
