Registrars / GleSYS

Track your GleSYS domains.
nmspc reads your GleSYS domains through GleSYS's API and reminds you before anything expires. It never changes them.

nmspc reads the domains in your GleSYS project through GleSYS's API: when each one expires, whether auto-renew is on, and the DNS records of domains on GleSYS DNS. nmspc lists what it finds and you choose which domains to track; nothing is added by itself. On Free it syncs when you press Sync now, on Pro every day.

Connect GleSYS

Steps

  1. In GleSYS Cloud, open the project your domains are in, click the user icon at the top right and choose Control API access. Press Create, name the key nmspc and pick that project.
  2. Under Permissions, open Show modules and give the key only domain/list and domain/listrecords in the Domain module. The second is only needed for DNS records.
  3. Paste the project number (it starts with cl) and the key's password here. nmspc stores the key encrypted and only ever reads with it.

Where to create the key at GleSYS ↗

What nmspc reads

  • The domains in the GleSYS project the key belongs to, and domains that only use GleSYS DNS.
  • Each registered domain's expiry date and whether auto-renew is on.
  • DNS records of domains on GleSYS DNS. nmspc only calls two functions, both reads: domain/list and domain/listrecords.

What nmspc never does

  • Renew, transfer, register or delete a domain.
  • Change DNS records, nameservers, contacts or auto-renew.
  • Buy anything or touch your payment details.

Can the key change your account?

nmspc can't check what a GleSYS key is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your GleSYS account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

Before nmspc stores it, the workspace owner ticks “I allow nmspc to store a key that can change my GleSYS account”.

If it doesn't connect

  • GleSYS refused the request. Check that the key may use domain/list and that nmspc's address, shown on nmspc's Settings page for GleSYS, is under Access for the key.
  • Use the project number the key was created for as the username (cl and digits), not your email address or organization number.
  • A key only sees the domains in its own project. If your domains are spread over several projects, connect the one that holds them.

About GleSYS

Website
glesys.com
ICANN accreditation
GleSYS isn't on IANA's list of ICANN-accredited registrars. RDAP and WHOIS show the registrar behind a domain.
API
https://api.glesys.com, one API key per project, used with the project number (cl and digits).
Key access
A new key may do nothing from nowhere: you add the addresses that may use it and the functions it may call.
Nameservers
Domains on GleSYS DNS use nameservers under namesystem.se.

Moving a domain away from GleSYS

  1. In GleSYS Cloud, open the domain's overview, click Actions and choose Generate auth-code.
  2. Give the code to the registrar you're moving to; the transfer starts once they enter it.
  3. To move a domain between organizations or projects inside GleSYS Cloud, GleSYS asks you to contact [email protected] instead.

How do I create a GleSYS API key for nmspc?

In GleSYS Cloud, click the user icon at the top right and choose Control API access. Press Create, name the key and pick the project your domains are in.

Under the key's Access, add the address nmspc's Settings page for GleSYS shows. Under Permissions, open the Domain module and allow only domain/list and domain/listrecords. Then paste the project number and the key's password in nmspc.

Can the GleSYS key change my account?

nmspc can't check what a GleSYS key is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your GleSYS account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

GleSYS lets you limit a key to single functions, but no call shows nmspc which ones a key has, so the owner of the nmspc workspace ticks a box to allow storing it. Give the key only domain/list and domain/listrecords; it is stored encrypted and only used for reading.

Why does GleSYS refuse the key?

A new GleSYS key is refused from every address and for every function until you change that. Add nmspc's address under the key's Access and allow domain/list under Permissions, then connect again.

How does renewal work at GleSYS?

Automatic renewal is on by default. About a month before a renewal, GleSYS emails you that the domain will be renewed. If you turn auto-renew off, the domain expires when its term ends and someone else can register it.

nmspc reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before the expiry date either way.

How do I transfer a domain away from GleSYS?

Open the domain in GleSYS Cloud, choose Actions › Generate auth-code, and give the code to the new registrar.

Does nmspc renew my GleSYS domains?

No. nmspc never renews, transfers or changes a domain. It reads your GleSYS domains and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before each one expires, by push notification on any plan and by email on Pro. Renewing stays with GleSYS.
