Registrars / Porkbun

Track your Porkbun domains.
nmspc connects to Porkbun read-only and reminds you before anything expires.

nmspc reads your Porkbun domains with a read-only API key: when each one expires, whether auto-renew is on, whether it's locked, and the DNS records of domains you open to the API. nmspc lists what it finds and you choose which domains to track; nothing is added by itself. On Free it syncs when you press Sync now, on Pro every day.

Steps

  1. In Porkbun, open Account › API Access and press Create API Key. Name it nmspc.
  2. Under permissions choose the Read-only preset. nmspc refuses keys that can change anything.
  3. Optional: limit the key to the domains you want tracked. DNS for the rest stays private.
  4. For each domain, turn on API Access in Domain Management (or Opt In All Domains once), then paste both keys here.

What nmspc reads

  • The domains in your Porkbun account.
  • Each domain's expiry and registration dates, auto-renew setting, transfer lock and status.
  • DNS records of domains with API Access turned on.

What nmspc never does

  • Renew, transfer, register or delete a domain.
  • Change DNS records, nameservers, contacts or auto-renew.
  • Buy anything or touch your payment details.

Can the key change your account?

nmspc checks that the Porkbun key is read-only before storing it, and refuses one that can change your Porkbun account.

How do I create a Porkbun API key?

Sign in, click ACCOUNT at the top right and choose API Access. Name the key, choose its permissions and press Create API Key. For nmspc, choose the Read-only preset; you may also limit the key to some domains.

Then turn on API Access for each domain under Domain Management › Details. Porkbun only lets a key see domains with API Access on.

Is the Porkbun connection read-only?

Yes. When you connect, nmspc asks Porkbun which permissions the key has and only stores keys set to Read-only. A key that can change anything is refused and nothing is saved.

Why doesn't nmspc see all my Porkbun domains?

Porkbun only gives a key access to domains with API Access turned on (Domain Management › Details), and to the domains the key is limited to, if you limited it. Turn it on for the missing ones and press Sync now.

How do I turn off auto-renew at Porkbun?

Auto-renew is on by default for new registrations. In Domain Management, click the renew icon in the Renew column and choose Disable Auto Renew, or select several domains and use General Bulk Options. Settings › Billing › Domain Renewal Settings changes the default for new registrations.

Does Porkbun send renewal reminders?

For .com and other generic endings, ICANN requires Porkbun, like every accredited registrar, to email at least two reminders before a domain expires (about a month and about a week before) and one more within five days after, if it is neither renewed nor deleted.

nmspc adds its own reminders 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before.

How do I transfer a domain away from Porkbun?

Unlock it with the lock icon in Domain Management, then choose Get Authorization Code under Details and give the code to the new registrar. It has to be at least 60 days since registration and since it came to Porkbun.

Does nmspc renew my Porkbun domains?

No. nmspc never renews, transfers or changes a domain. It reads your Porkbun domains and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before each one expires, by push notification on any plan and by email on Pro. Renewing stays with Porkbun.
