Track your GoDaddy domains.
nmspc reads your GoDaddy domains with a personal access token and reminds you before anything expires. It never changes them.

nmspc reads your GoDaddy domains through GoDaddy's Domains API: when each one expires, whether auto-renew is on, its status and nameservers, and the DNS records of domains on GoDaddy DNS. nmspc lists what it finds and you choose which domains to track; nothing is added by itself. On Free it syncs when you press Sync now, on Pro every day.

Connect GoDaddy

Steps

  1. In the GoDaddy developer portal, open Personal Access Tokens and create a new token.
  2. Give it only the domains.domain:read scope. Leave every create, update and delete scope off.
  3. Copy the token and paste it below. nmspc only reads, and stores it encrypted.

Where to create the key at GoDaddy ↗

What nmspc reads

  • The domains in your GoDaddy account.
  • Each domain's expiry and registration dates, auto-renew setting, status and nameservers.
  • DNS records of domains that use GoDaddy DNS, when the token may read them.

What nmspc never does

  • Renew, transfer, register or delete a domain.
  • Change DNS records, nameservers, contacts or auto-renew.
  • Buy anything or touch your payment details.

Can the key change your account?

GoDaddy keys can't be limited to reading. This key can change your GoDaddy account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

Before nmspc stores it, the workspace owner ticks “I allow nmspc to store a key that can change my GoDaddy account”.

If it doesn't connect

  • GoDaddy refused to list domains. Check the token has domains.domain:read. GoDaddy's Domains API only works for accounts that hold at least one domain or are on a plan that grants API access; if both are right, use CSV import instead.
  • A key and secret pair (the older sso-key kind) isn't accepted: it always has full access to the account. Create a personal access token instead.

Moving a domain away from GoDaddy

  1. Unlock the domain, turn off Domain Privacy and set Domain Protection to none.
  2. In your Domain Portfolio, open the domain and under Transfer choose Transfer to another registrar. Go through the checklist and continue; with Domain Protection on, GoDaddy asks you to verify who you are.
  3. Copy the authorization code from the page, or use the one GoDaddy emails to the domain's registrant address, and give it to the new registrar.
  4. If a 60-day lock was chosen when the domain was registered, transferred or its contact details changed, it can't move for 60 days; domains bought in a bundle offer can't move for 120 days. A transfer usually takes 5 to 7 days.

How do I create a GoDaddy API key for nmspc?

Create a personal access token in the GoDaddy developer portal and give it only the domains.domain:read scope, which lets it read domain records. GoDaddy recommends personal access tokens and lists the classic key and secret as deprecated for Domains through 2026, so nmspc only accepts tokens.

Can the GoDaddy token change my account?

GoDaddy keys can't be limited to reading. This key can change your GoDaddy account. nmspc only ever reads with it.

GoDaddy has no way to show nmspc which scopes a token has, so the owner of the nmspc workspace ticks a box to allow storing it. The token is stored encrypted and only used for reading.

Does GoDaddy send renewal reminders?

For .com and other generic endings, ICANN requires GoDaddy, like every accredited registrar, to email at least two reminders before a domain expires (about a month and about a week before) and one more within five days after, if it is neither renewed nor deleted.

nmspc adds its own reminders 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before, whatever GoDaddy sends.

How do I turn auto-renew on or off at GoDaddy?

Open the domain's Domain Settings page from your Domain Portfolio and switch Auto-renew in the Renew section, then select Continue. GoDaddy renews with the payment method on the account, and the change can take up to 90 minutes to show.

Domains with Domain Protection ask you to verify who you are first. nmspc shows the new setting after its next sync.

Why can't nmspc list my GoDaddy domains?

Check that the token has domains.domain:read. GoDaddy's Domains API only manages domains for accounts that hold at least one domain or are on a plan that grants access. If it still refuses, import your domains from a CSV file instead.

Does nmspc renew my GoDaddy domains?

No. nmspc never renews, transfers or changes a domain. It reads your GoDaddy domains and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before each one expires, by push notification on any plan and by email on Pro. Renewing stays with GoDaddy.
