Track your Dynadot domains.
nmspc reads your Dynadot domains through Dynadot's API and reminds you before anything expires. It never changes them.
nmspc reads your Dynadot domains through Dynadot's RESTful API: when each one expires, whether auto-renew is on, whether it's locked or on hold, its nameservers, and the DNS records of domains on Dynadot DNS. nmspc lists what it finds and you choose which domains to track; nothing is added by itself. On Free it syncs when you press Sync now, on Pro every day.
Connect Dynadot
Steps
- Sign in to Dynadot, open Tools › API from the left-side menu, and unlock your account with the link on that page.
- Copy the Production key and the Secret key. nmspc needs both: Dynadot signs every request for domain details with the secret.
- Dynadot keys can't be limited to reading: this pair can change your whole account. nmspc only ever reads with it, and stores it encrypted.
What nmspc reads
- The domains in your Dynadot account.
- Each domain's expiry and registration dates, renewal option, lock and hold status, and nameservers.
- DNS records of domains that use Dynadot DNS. nmspc only sends two requests, both reads: the domain list and get_dns.
What nmspc never does
- Renew, transfer, register or delete a domain.
- Change DNS records, nameservers, contacts or auto-renew.
- Buy anything or touch your payment details.
Can the key change your account?
nmspc can't check what a Dynadot key is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your Dynadot account. nmspc only ever reads with it.
Before nmspc stores it, the workspace owner ticks “I allow nmspc to store a key that can change my Dynadot account”.
If it doesn't connect
- Dynadot refused the request. If you set IP addresses on Dynadot's API page, add the address shown on nmspc's Settings page for Dynadot too, wait 10 minutes and try again. Otherwise check that the account isn't locked or disabled.
- Use the Production key and the Secret key from Tools › API, not the Sandbox keys. Dynadot only shows them once the account is unlocked on that page.

Moving a domain away from Dynadot
- The domain must have been registered more than 60 days ago and not transferred in the last 60 days. Dynadot recommends starting at least 2 weeks before it expires.
- On the Manage Domains page, click the domain and scroll to the Authorization Code section.
- If the domain is transfer locked, press Unlock Account, then Unlock to unlock the domain. The authorization code then shows in that section; give it to the new registrar.
- Leave the domain unlocked during the transfer. Some endings, such as .uk, .ro and .be, work differently.
How do I get a Dynadot API key?
Sign in to Dynadot and open Tools › API from the left-side menu. Unlock your account with the link on that page; Dynadot then shows your Production key and Secret key. nmspc needs both: the Secret key signs each request.
Can the Dynadot key change my account?
nmspc can't check what a Dynadot key is allowed to do, so treat it as one that can change your Dynadot account. nmspc only ever reads with it.
Dynadot has no way to give a key fewer rights or to show nmspc what a key may do, so the owner of the nmspc workspace ticks a box to allow storing it. The keys are stored encrypted and only used for reading.
Do I need to set an IP address on Dynadot's API page?
No, it's optional. If you have limited your key to some IP addresses, add the one nmspc's Settings page for Dynadot shows, then wait at least 10 minutes: Dynadot says changes take that long to reach its API servers.
How do I turn auto-renew on or off at Dynadot?
In My Domains › Manage Domains, tick the domains, choose Renew Options from the Action menu, pick auto-renew or manual renewal and press Save Settings. With auto-renew on, Dynadot renews 15 days before the expiry date; if that fails, it emails you and tries again every day.
nmspc shows the new setting after its next sync.
Does Dynadot send renewal reminders?
For .com and other generic endings, ICANN requires Dynadot, like every accredited registrar, to email at least two reminders before a domain expires (about a month and about a week before) and one more within five days after, if it is neither renewed nor deleted.
For domains set to manual renewal, Dynadot emails reminders starting 60 days before expiry; choosing do not renew turns them off for that domain.
nmspc adds its own reminders 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before.
How do I transfer a domain away from Dynadot?
Open the domain from Manage Domains and scroll to Authorization Code. Unlock the account and then the domain, and give the code that appears to the new registrar. The domain must be more than 60 days past registration and its last transfer.
Does nmspc renew my Dynadot domains?
No. nmspc never renews, transfers or changes a domain. It reads your Dynadot domains and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before each one expires, by push notification on any plan and by email on Pro. Renewing stays with Dynadot.
